What is Market Lifecycle?

A Yolomarkets market begins when the team creates it using four core fields: the betting question, the opinion question, the threshold number of required human opinions, and the end time. As soon as the market is deployed, the opinion question becomes live, and verified humans can immediately start submitting their hidden commit votes. At this early stage, the betting engine stays locked because the system needs a minimum amount of signals i.e. opinion givers volume, before allowing trades to happen

Threshold Activation

The market shifts into active trading only after the opinion threshold has been reached. Once enough opinion givers have submitted their commit votes, the betting side unlocks, and traders can begin placing limit or market orders.

The opinion commit phase continues to run alongside the betting phase, allowing more humans to contribute hidden votes up until the cutoff. Both the trading window and the opinion intake window stay open simultaneously until the market’s configured end time arrives.

End of Market & Reveal Phase

When the end time is reached, all activity freezes: betting closes, no more trades can be executed, and opinion commits are no longer accepted.

The following day is dedicated to the reveal phase. During this window, all previously committed opinions are revealed, either directly by the users or automatically by the relayer through their pre-authorised reveal signatures. The contract verifies every reveal, checks that each one matches its earlier commitment, and then counts the valid votes to compute the final percentage output.

Resolution & Settlement

The calculated percentage is then mapped to a corresponding bucket, which becomes the single winning outcome for the betting market.

The CTF engine resolves based on this bucket, enabling traders holding the correct outcome tokens to redeem them for collateral while all losing tokens settle to zero. At the same time, opinion givers who voted for the correct side become eligible to claim their share of the accumulated fee rewards. Once these redemptions and claims are processed, the market is considered fully settled and complete.
